Canada is a country in the northern part of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres, making it the world’s second-largest country by total area. Its southern border with the United States, stretching some 8,891 kilometres, is the world’s longest bi-national land border. Canada’s capital is Ottawa, and its three largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.
As a whole, Canada is sparsely populated, the majority of its land area being dominated by forest and tundra. Its population is highly urbanized, with over 80 percent of its inhabitants concentrated in large and medium-sized cities, and 70 per cent residing within 100 kilometres of the southern border. Canada’s climate varies widely across its vast area, ranging from arctic weather in the north, to hot summers in the southern regions, with four distinct seasons.
Second largest country in the world, Canada occupies a large part in North America, from the great lakes to the frozen borders of the Far North. With its large French-speaking cities like Montreal and Quebec and its capital, Ottawa, it is a mosaic of traditions that can be discovered there. On the spot, the currency is the Canadian dollar, not to be confused with the US dollar!
With its many hubs (Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver), Canada is a very accessible country.Corsairfly operates a few direct charters to Montreal. The Canadian company Air Canada also operates direct flights. Canada is also accessible by low cost / charter on Air Transat , which offers seasonal flights at low prices.
The main airports in Canada serve its capital and its most famous cities, such as Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier Airport, Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport in Montreal, Jean-Lesage International Airport in Quebec or again Vancouver International Airport.
The high season is in summer, between June and September; the low season in the middle of winter when the thermometer can go down to -40 degrees. This is when you will find exceptional promotions (flights around 300 €) to reach Canadian cities.
Difficult to answer! Some will want to live a winter in the Far North, that is to say 1 meter of snow and -20 degrees, others will prefer to avoid this period and the great Canadian cold and will then have to go there in summer. Please note that the interseasons, spring and autumn, are short and quickly give way to summer or winter.
Normally, the rule for traveling to Canada is a valid passport or identity card, at least for nationals of Western countries.
Canada is the second largest country in the world! Covered with lakes and forests, Canada is a dream destination for nature lovers. Canada fascinates as much by its geography as by its culture and history:
Canada is a vast and largely uninhabited territory: the country has less than 10 million inhabitants. You will therefore have mainly the choice between two extremes: big effervescent cities or natures deserted with human lives but not life at all!
